A lesson I have taken with me into 2019 is that not everyone are “my people”. It does not mean that I do not like someone or care for their well-being, it just means they are not “my people”
When I say “my people”, I am referring to ones that I allow an exchange of energy, emotions, time and dreams with. As we mature and endure life lessons, I’m sure we all have a person or even some people that we wish we had the time back we invested in them and their place in our life.
I have probably used the term”my people” to my husband 6 or 7 dozen times since the beginning of the year.
It’s an awareness for me and a reminder to him that it’s ok when we come to the conclusion that people are not the ones for us. And if we accepted that gift when we first recognize it, we could save ourselves some time and heartache.
These days, I live off of “Energy”! If someone’s energy is not resonating in a positive way with my spirit then I am passing go on them without collecting my $200.. kidding but I am not going to pursue getting too acquainted, pleasantries and soft smiles will have to suffice.
Even in established relationships, if the “energy” I am getting from someone is unsettling to my spirit then I will proceed with caution in further endeavors with them. I have stopped inviting people in my space that once always on the guest list. I have stopped always reaching out first and stopped trying to make them into ‘my people.”
The biggest takeaway has been to stop living in the fear of missing out on something by not having them in my life, instead to enjoy the people God has blessed me with because they are amazing and deserve my time and energy.
You are so right. God will send you the ones who will lift your spirits when needed.
