Love & Faith

Even If You Don’t

First, hey y’all! I hope that as you get the alert for a new post it finds you and your family & home in good spirit and health!

Just 5 months in, 2020 has been quite the year! My prayer is that we do not “go back to normal” soon but that as places begin to open back up and we fall back into some routines that we will keep close things we have discovered during the time of quarantine and reflection. I pray that your relationship with God has strengthened as well as with all those that you know & love!

During the last few months I have drafted several posts but never felt that they were “finished” but that all changed this morning when I was sitting at my vanity and a song that I have heard many times ministered to me in a different way!

Jonathan McReynolds feat DOE has a song titled “Cycles” hit differently so let me share, it starts like this…

Didn’t I conquer this last year?
Tell me what I missed ’cause I fear
That it’s coming back up again
Must be something I ate
Some song, some show, some hate

The devil wants to extend the game, free throws
And when it ends he wants to make the sequel
‘Cause if he has another chance
He feels like he can take
My joy, my peace, my faith

See the devil, he learns from your mistakes
Even if you don’t
That’s how he keeps you in cycles, cycles
Cycles, cycles
But I’m not going in cycles, cycles
Cycles, cycles

This will end like I want it to, I win
The enemy will have to lose again
See, I’m a different fighter now
And I have God to thank
‘Cause His joy is my strength

They sing that the “devil learns from your mistakes even if you don’t!” How about that as food for thought?

“That’s how he keeps you in cycles”- whew, Lord! That was for me! I have often wondered how I find myself back in the same predicaments that I swore to never be in again once I made it out the previous time.

One thing that 2020 should have taught us all is that tomorrow is not promised so we need to break those cycles today! I am coming out of this pandemic far better than I was when I went in. My spiritual health has increased making me a different fighter!

See, there is power in the name of Jesus
See, there is power in the name of Jesus
There is power in the name of Jesus
To break every cycle, to break all these cycles
To break all these cycles, to break all these cycles

Generational cycles, financial cycles
Painful cycles, oh, cycles
..”

I have laid in bed many nights during this pandemic calling on the name of Jesus as I worry about myself and my loved ones being exposed to Covid-19 as essential employees! I have sat in my car and called on the name of Jesus as I receive notices of those sick and others who have journeyed into bereavement after losing loved ones! I have been at my desk at work calling on the name of Jesus as we received the new of reduction in pay for both Chocolate & I! But I rest assured knowing that all I have to do is call on His name and His will shall be done.

I know there is power in the name of Jesus, and I want to feel it all!

I see God in all of this. I see him in families connecting through technology after not seeing each other for many years. I see God bringing together communities to assist the elderly and other neighbors. I see families within the same household spending more time together, breaking bread and enjoying each other’s company. I see new levels of creativity taking place from all around the world. I see statesmen rising up and being solid leaders during this time. I see healthcare workers saying “yes, the risks are high but God you gave me these talents so I am going to use them to heal your people.” I see a new appreciation for grocery store, trade, tech and other front line and essential workers. I see more credit being given to teachers and all of the various roles in our school systems. I see churches being able to minister not to just their normal parishioners but to people around the globe. I see God!

We begin to break cycles by changing the way we look at things. Wayne Dyer said “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change” and I want us all to be better than what’s in front of us right now! We will get through this and every other battle at our feet! The cycles end now!
