When they wonder where I get my sass,
I say I got it from you
When they complement my class,
I say I learned it from you
When they call me Little Rachel,
I say nothing could be more true!
It’s the earthly birth date of my gran! From 1936 to 2011, she spent her physical life here on earth loving, nurturing and kingdom building!
I still thank God for her life and for the time I had with her. I never had a chance to meet my maternal grandmother since she passed away when my mother was merely a young child so this Wonder Woman pictured above was it for me and what an awesome gift she was to have bestowed upon my life.
Though I am deeply sadden by the loss of her here on earth, I do not take for granted that I had for the majority of my life. That’s something my youngest sister does not have and Oh, how I wish she still has her around!
She was Purposeful and had Impact and you all get to see that in me!
This is what I posted on my FB page back in 2012, and it still rings true today! I feel her spirit “Everywhere I am”
This song by Jaheim.. “Everywhere I am” is a song I listen to at least twice a week.
He starts the song singing:
“It’s killing me softly with every heartbeat
thinking you can’t see how your sons living
(Hey mama) Is there an address up in heaven
I feel dropping you this letter but it will be return to sender..”
Can you relate? I sure can! I know she would be so proud of all that I am in current day and sometimes just like he sings, it’s killing me softly that she can’t see it. But then he sings:
“Was that you saying just keep on praying
You’ll see the day when it will be worth the waiting
(Hey mama) I think I’ve received your message
Think how I’m receiving blessings..”
and my faith is restored.. I am okay again cause the day will come (hopefully no time soon) when we will be reunited for all eternity!
Here are some of my favorite lyrics:
“Just when I’m inches away from losing my mind, that’s when I swear sometimes; I hear you voice inside my head. You’re everywhere, everywhere I am.
Just when the walls are closing in on my world, that’s when I hear my favorite girl!”
I pray that this resonates with someone. Thank God for music that soothes the soul!
