Love & Faith

Great is His Faithfulness

Currently, I start every single day with the song below!

“Great Work”-Brian Courtney Wilson

The song reminds me as obstacles come along that despite them all, God has already started a “great work” in me and He is faithful, so do not get discouraged as I journey down this road whose path was once clear but now there are obstructions and distractions in the way.

I love that this songs reminds me that the journey that God is taking me on is far greater than me, it started generations before me, and I am continuing what was already started!

Will the way you live your life alter when you really sit back and think about your ancestors before you that have paved the way for you to be in the position you’re in today?
Will you work more diligently to make them proud?
Will you relinquish repeating mistakes and behaviors of the past generations to reap the harvest that was already planted for you and your children’s children?

When I think of Jesus on the cross, the debt that he paid so that you & I can live again, when I think of my ancestors’ land being stripped from them as natives of this very country that was “discovered” although it was already inhabited and other ancestors being enslaved because of the color of their skin and denied an education, voting rights and basic acts of freedom in a country they were helping to build and protect, when I think of the marches, the protests, the bravery and all that they endured… I am thankful. I am hopeful. I am encouraged.

I have to do more.
I have to give more.
I have to be more.
They deserve it!

And so do my nieces and nephews and the generations after them who will continue to build once we are gone.

(Lyrics from the song below!)

“So what should be considered
As we proceed
Is that this work
Did not begin with you
Our mothers’ mothers
And fathers’ fathers
Planted seeds
When we were but the faint notion of a dream
In their mind
They hope for a harvest
A legacy, a great work
So may your next step forward
Help us to connect the dots and see
This picture of greatness
In fact I hear God say
That you are his workmanship
His masterpiece
Created for such a time as this
For great works
A great, great, great work
So go be great
Don’t get discouraged
Go be great
Don’t you get weary
Go be great
Keep marching for justice
Keep pressing toward the mark
In this wonderful world

Where our children laugh and pray
And dream
And see greatness
Exceeding abundantly
More than we can imagine
But let me assure you
That it’s great
And our God is faithful
Yes Lord, yes You’re great
Yes Lord”
