Greatest Gift

Tonight’s post is inspired by Tamika Scott’s “Greatest Gift” song that was released in 2007 on the “Daddy’s Girl” soundtrack.
I’ve loved this song since I first heard it. It definitely reminds me that Chocolate is a gift from heaven! God entrusted me with him and I need to honor and appreciate him….daily!
Recently, I was talking with a friend about the checklist that she has for her future husband, it was lengthy and completely superficial!
I tried to appeal to her from a different perspective, physical and financial characteristics are important but what about him being God fearing? What about him being being respectful? A great leader? A good friend? A decent communicator? How about a man with willingness to grow together? Then, how about you pray for a man who will “value your heart” like it says in this song? Will he encourage you? Will he be your strength when you’re weak?
Have you prayed for these things? 💡
In my second post titled “My Praying Grandmother” I shared that my grandmother always prayed for my heart amongst other things. I am naturally a giving person and she never wanted me to give my heart to the wrong people.
When Chocolate came along in late 2000, I knew he was someone who would value my heart. We were young so we were going to make mistakes and have hiccups along the way, but they all helped shape us into the couple we are today, which is a fabulous one in case you haven’t heard.. 😛
The last 2 years have been really challenging for us as a couple between me being sick on/off and the devil just attacking any and every way attempting to breakthrough the armor we have around our union, but God has seen us through it all!
Chocolate has literally been my voice when I was too sick to speak or when I was under sedation and he spoke with the doctors to being my strength as I healed and recovered after each physical attack my body endured.
But more importantly when I was toying with what to do about my previous job, I remember one night we were in the kitchen, I was sitting at the island and he was standing on the other side and he said “babe, I don’t want you to go back in any capacity! I’ll do whatever it takes to maintain us while you look for a job!”
Men like him have to be from God himself! He had seen the emotional roller coaster I had been on over the past couple of years and had decided that my peace of mind was more important than my paycheck!
I am so VERY thankful for his love!
Get you some chocolate in your life and stop playing! 😉

Here are some lyrics and the video to “Greatest Gift” Enjoy!

“Baby I
I love you
I need you Cause you
You’re my voice when I can’t speak
You give me strength when I am weak
Show me my worth, value my heart
You’re my peace, You’re my joy
Encourage me not to give up
I’m so thankful for your love
I know I can depend on you
You always see me through

You embrace me
Respect me
You trust me
Never judge me
You’re my man
My best friend
You accept me for who I am
I feel so safe when I’m in your arms
Nothing can tear us apart
You bring out the best in me
The greatest gift heaven sent to me”

  1. Love the way you speak of God and “Chocolate”!!!! I suggest we start a Ministry “God’s Chocolate” to speak to men, women, young people, old people to show that you have to ask God to send you the Godly man that is for us. We have to know what we want/need, what we will do, what we have to offer and what we are looking for in a Godly Mate. We have to know ourselves and always work on ourselves.

So wished I had read this long ago. God Bless You.
