Kingdom Building!

So, we didn’t make it to church today as my Munch (niece) is really sick. We’re praying its not the flu and just some other germs of the season.
First Sundays are Communion Sunday at our church and we really try to never miss it as it is a time of reflection, repentance and re-commitment each month to the body of Christ. Chocolate & I always feel renewed and prepared for the month ahead after communion.
So, not going today was bittersweet but that does not mean we could not get in our praise & worship!

This song has been one that has been on my daily playlist as it really speaks to where I am in my life. Just like Ruth La’Ontra says in the beginning of the live version of this song “We’re called to be a light, a light to the whole-wide world” then she says “Shine Your Light!”
I believe that we here for a purpose and time spent in scripture and prayer will direct your path to what your individual purpose is, and when you discover that and walk into your purpose, everything up to that point will all of a sudden make sense!
An example of this is; I depended on my grandmother to get me through tough times, I depended on her prayers and her strength, so when she went to Glory, I felt like all of those things were gone with her.
I was keeping my own light dimmed, not trusting my own capabilities.
I possess the ability to pray for myself, far better than anyone else, who knows the desires of my heart better than me? I can share it with you but the emotion attached to it will not be the same when petitioning to God. I have an insurmountable amount of strength! Far more than I ever thought I had until I no longer had her.

And like I shared in my Thanksgiving post, I am surrounded by some of the most beautiful souls, women who I might not have had time to develop the relationships that I have with them if I was still running to North Carolina ever chance I got.
I do not discredit or take anything away from my grandmother, as you all know, she was amazing!
I have simply found my light and want to let that shine!

“I want to make a difference” is what they sing in this song and so I ask, do you wake up feeling like that?

I can honestly say that I do! I have asked God to mold me, use me, allow me to bring others to him!

Part of me making a difference is this blog, my assignment is to share my stories and to be a vessel of comfort, strength and encouragement for others!

I challenge you all to find your light, and let it shine! Be a difference maker! Enjoy this song! Sing it loud (and off-key if you want to) and shine bright!

  1. Thanks for sharing.

BTW, I had out heard this song. Now I have a favorite line in this song: “It’s not the building, it’s not religion, it’s the Kingdom and it’s in me!

So many people miss that point! Thanks for giving me a new song to share with others.
