On this second Sunday of Advent season there has been something on my mind for a couple of weeks now and then yesterday I heard a sermon on the radio that conveyed exactly what has been on my mind.
The Pastor was preaching about being let down. He mentioned how people will always let you down but you must not consume yourself with that, instead focus on and relish in the blessing that God does not LEAVE YOU DOWN!
It’s a fact that we all will be let down from time to time, we will let others down, hell, there’s times when we let ourselves down in our decision making but by Grace we are able to face a new day!
There are times when we get let down that we want to wallow in sorror and pity and tell everyone about our troubles when that let down is really an opportunity to share with others about our God.
No doubt, there are let downs that hurt much worse than others when it comes to matters of the heart and they’re going to require a little time to recover from but as Tina Campbell sings in the song below “some say it’s too hard to forgive, I say it’s too hard not to!”
When people let u down we have a few options but I’ll focus on the 2 options that include forgiveness; we can forgive and move forward with them continuing to be a part of our lives or we can forgive and move forward with them no longer being in our lives. The objective here is to “forgive”, because holding on to anger and expecting the other person to feel it is crazy! It’s like setting yourself on fire and expecting them to get burned instead of you! The same Mercy we want from God and from others must be the same Mercy we extend to others.
So let downs don’t last, however God’s love for us is eternal!
