I am so elated that I was blessed enough to live and see a woman, a Black & Asian woman be sworn in to the office of Vice President of the United States!
In a country that clearly still has quite the road ahead to overcome some of the very foundations that it was built upon, I did not believe that this day would come so soon.
I know many people, myself included took issue with some of Madam VP’s early decisions when she was a prosecutor. I don’t know about you but I take issue with some of the decisions I made in my early adult life as well! While my decisions did not hinder the freedom or well being of others there was definitely hurt feelings, lost relationships and a lot of opportunity to slow down in my decision making and really vetting those closest to me and the insight that they provided.
Bottom line for me, we live & we learn. We experience & we grow. We repent, pray & lay those burdens down!
If you or I had to account for all the things of our past, would it change the way others see you?
Being an Auntie Extraordinaire and a Youth Leader are two roles that I do not take lightly and I am so excited to share in this new day with all of those young people!
Every woman, mother, grandmother, auntie, Godmommy, and even fathers, brothers and others should delight in being able to say to their daughters and other young people that because of January 6, 2021 they can dream even bigger!
For the rest of my days I will always remember VP Harris’ face and my own emotions as she was sworn in.
I will support her because she is a woman, being a woman of color is just icing on the cake!
