“Sometimes I feel like giving up
It seems like my best just ain’t good enough
Lord if you hear me, I’m calling you
Do you see, do you care all about what I’m going through
And then He says, one more day hmm, one more step
See I’m preparing you for myself
And when you can’t hear my voice, please trust my plan
I’m the Lord, I see and yes I understand“
I needed that message right there after this past week…actually after the past few months… nope, after the first half of this year!
I will share different battles I have overcome in future posts, for this one I am focused on distractions!
I have allowed so many different distractions take me off course and it’s time that I make some changes, I have to get back focused!
A great friend & mentor was adamant about me venturing all the way over the hills and down 95 to attend a TEDx event earlier this month that she was volunteering at and I am so very grateful for her obedience in continuing to bully me into attending that event because a word that has continuously come up in my devotional time the past couple of months has been “distractions” and what was the theme for the TEDx event…
Disruptors, Distractions, and Defenders and WOW! If that was a clear and concise message from the heavens, I don’t know what is. I left that event feeling inspired and blessed!
The biggest takeaway for me was to remember to spend time investing back into myself. I have to be more diligent in allotting time for personal growth & learning.
My former employer was good at bringing in motivational speakers for all levels of the leadership teams and I had not realized how much I missed that until attending the event. Being ever the nerd, I always take lots of notes and start processing immediately how I can apply the learnings to my life, this event was no different.
In this post I will share about stress management. The speaker Matt Balducci spoke about stress being a silent killer. He shared how you should create a stress budget and when your budget is in excess of it’s capacity how you have to be honest with yourself and others that you are not able to add any additional stress to your life at that time. Matt shared tips on training your stress muscles. Those tips include; cold showers, intermittent fasting and spending 15-20 minutes in a sauna multiple times a week and tracking your stress factors.
He shared your should track your “S” factors which are: what is stressing you, how much sleep you are getting and your sugar intake. Once you have a tracking system in place, you can then form a plan to manage it. Sounds easy, right? Easier said than done for sure!
Let’s all commit to living our best reduced stress lives the rest of 2019!
Thanks for sharing. Great reminders.
So true.
