Rev. Brandon Harris delivered a sermon today that resonated with every fiber of my being and I just have to share! His sermon was based on the book of Exodus, chapter 14, the well known scripture of Moses and the Israelites as they fled captivity from Pharaoh and the Egyptian Army.
He started off talking about all the things that are making us weary in these current times, primarily a world that is tearing itself apart and how we take steps forward just to seemingly follow-up by falling backwards. He shared that as soon as God starts to liberate us, here comes the devil trying to take us back!
There are times in our lives where there is chaos in front of us and chaos behind us and as we try to figure it out on our own, we ought to be stepping out on faith for the battle is not ours! According to Hebrew 11:1 Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen, but in times of challenges and hopelessness our ability to have faith is only in what we can see around us! We worry ourselves into mental and emotional and sometimes physical deaths when all we have to do is “Be Still! Stand Firm! Have Faith!”
The same God that created the heaven and the earth is the same God that will deliver you from your battle. Instead of trying to fight our battles ourselves, we must remember that our battles were already won on Calvary when Jesus died on the cross for you and I. We have to Walk forward with Faith! Walk forward Rejoicing! Walk forward Knowing that the battle we’re facing is already WON!
The most powerful part of the sermon for me was when he said ” How low in despair do you have to sink to think the best option for you is to remain in captivity (of your battle)” This was a swift kick to my abdomen, it brought me to my knees! Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!
When you think about that, there’s nothing else to say besides, Jesus! Why would we think that remaining where we currently are in a battle or going backwards is ever better than forging ahead? I don’t know about you but I do not have a solid argument as to why. Some excuses come to mind but I would not dare say they are solid arguments!
We have to Go Forward into unknown chaos or territory believing and trusting in God’s will! There is no option to go back!
Amen…there’s your answer
It was a powerful message.
There are only one set of footprints in the sand, and they are not mine. Jesus will deliver me at some point on the other side. I just have faith and believe. I have no expectations or demands of his choices for me. I know as so far he has given me so much and I am humbly greatful. For I have not fallen but am floating. Forge forward I will as is his will.
I love you and will hold your hand!
Thanks for sharing.
