Maverick City has become one of my favorite collaboratives of all time! Chandler, Naomi, Dante, Joe and Brandon are super talented and their ministry of music through song has lifted me on the darkest of days! You will be reading about them a lot on here!
On this particular night and even for the last few days, the song “Come Again” with Brandon & Chandler as lead has been on my heart.
At the 3:55 mark, Brandon starts singing ” It’s not a building You want to fill, it’s my heart. This empty space is what you wanted all along!” That is a word all by itself! Religion is about relationship with God! That’s the point blank & the period. There’s not a bishop, pastor, reverend, minister, elder, evangelist or anyone can argue that. But some of those people will tell you that they need to fill their buildings! God wants to fill our hearts! He wants us to fellowship with one another and worship together but it’s not to fill seats, it’s to fill hearts! If the sanctuary is full and the hearts of the people are not, well there’s a problem!
The pandemic has shown us that you can have church in your home because the buildings where most of us were attending are “church houses” and “places of worship.” Right in your living room, you can have a little talk with Jesus! There’s no point in going into church houses and not fostering a relationship with God outside of it as well. We need to empty out our schedules and things that we are dependent on to make room for God to fill us up!
Chandler joins in later with “You love when I’m empty! Just when I don’t have enough! When I don’t have anything else to lean on! When I don’t know the answer, when I don’t have the solution, cause You do miracles with empty!” and Brandon closes out the song with “I’m what You wanted all along!”
I know I can allow myself to become super busy that I put off spending time with God. The wasted time that I spend trying to figure things out on my own can be better used giving it to God! God loves when we need Him! He loves when we’re empty!
Lord knows I have had some days of pure exhaustion since I’ve been blogging. Some days of being in sunken places and some days of just wallowing in defeat but each & every time, the Holy Spirit is right there to redirect me. While in those moments I may feel like I don’t have anyone fleshly person to lean on but I always know I have God! And His grace is sufficient!
Have you ever been completely exasperated and then a miracles occurs? A breakthrough happens? A God sighting takes place? That’s for us to see and be able to testify that God has our attention as only He could have given us the blessing that we received. He only wants you & I to live a life where He gets all the glory, all the honor, forever!
Beautiful! Needed this today.
An uplifting way to start the morning.
